  • Welcome to my blog!

Hi I'm Martin Roe. I'm a photographer shooting Weddings, lifestyle and childrens portraiture.
I'm based in the Midlands area between Burton on Trent, Ashbourne and Uttoxeter, though I shoot Weddings all over the country.
I love what I do and hope that it comes across in the images I make. For me the rapport that I build with my subjects is a huge part of my work, which I why I include an engagement or pre-wedding shoot with my top two packages. These allow us to get to know each other a little more whilst having fun along the way, you'll be more aware and a little more relaxed about what I get up to on your special day.
You'll be able to hear about my latest work and offers here on my blog, and should you wish to see my galleries, use the portfolio links provided.
My packages for 2011 begin at just £895, which includes a fabulous Epoca album made in Italy.
Any questions, use my contact page to e- mail me or to call me for a chat or become a fan on facebook to keep in touch with the latest goings on. I'm always happy to discuss my work, or your requirements.

Guild of photographers Image of the month Awards | Gold and Three Bronzes!

Those of you who regularly follow by Blog and Facebook business pages might already know that in January I decided to join a professional society in order to get access to some superb training opportunities and several other benefits that I though may also benefit my clients. The Guild of photographers Image of the month awards is a national competition for its members and I decided to test myself and enter six images, three in the wedding category and three in the open category.

I was thrilled yesterday to discover that I had won one of only three gold awards attained nationally this month, and even more so when it was backed up with another three bronze awards which gave me three awards in the wedding category. Special thank yous to Emma , Joanne and Ian, and to Claire for giving me the images to win the wedding category awards, and to my daughter Emily for providing the “grave yard shot” for the open category.

It’s wonderful to have had these images judged by my peers and to have been relatively successful. Lets hope for more Guild of photographers Image of the month awards to come!

Some of my personal favourites of 2011 / Lenzflair wedding photography Burton on Trent | Lenzflair wedding photography, Burton on Trent

Last year was a fabulous year for Lenzflair wedding photography, Burton on Trent, despite me having a tough year personally,  I’m very proud to have shot some of my favourite weddings to date along with several childrens sessions and lifestyle shoots.

I have decided to upload a few of my favourites, by no means a definitive list because I’d be here all day. I have chosen these images, not because of technical merit or composition necessarily, but because of my own attachment to them, and often to the couples and subjects featured therein. two or three feature my own grandchildren, particularly the youngest Gracie who arrived early in the year. Others feature clients who have kept me as their family photographer after their wedding using me for baby portraits and lifestyle shoots. Some are here just because I loved the moment that I took the picture and it has therefore a special significance to me.

As a photographer I am constantly amazed at the trust imparted to me for a clients big day, and thrilled when the couple decide to keep me in their lives after their event. It’s a huge privilege to be invited to catalogue milestones in peoples lives for future generations to look at in years to come. I have come to value the friendship of a great many of my past clients.

Thank you to everyone that has used Lenzflair wedding Photography, Burton on Trent in 2011, I hope that I delivered to your expectations and beyond, and to those of you who have already booked for this year or next, or who are thinking of booking my services, I look forward to working with you all!

Hayley and Dougs Winter Wedding. Kingstone church and Newton park Hotel. | Burton on Trent wedding Photography

For my penultimate wedding of this year it was great to shoot some Burton on Trent wedding Photography. Starting not too far away from home  at the beautiful Kingstone chuch and then on to the reception at Newton Park hotel, a local favourite!

I met Doug and Hayley earlier in the year after they’d seen a friends wedding pictures that I’d taken last year, and after they had been dissapointed with other photographers’ responses to shooting a winter wedding ( which I love to shoot).

I knew straight away that I would enjoy shooting this one, Doug and Hayley are a wonderful couple and they seemed to be up for all the ideas that I threw their way. Unfortunately, the weather that we had on Friday was not what either of us had probably hoped for at the time and instead we had to deal with a high chilly wind and pouring rain for the bulk of the day, but it didn’t dampen our spirits!

It was my first wedding at Kingston church and conincidentally it was also the vicars (Joe), but all went extremely well, special thanks must go to Lillian who guided us through the churches rules and regulations. After some photographs mostly inside of the church we progressed to the lych gate for a few more with the champagne kindly provided by Colin of Spirit wedding services who had provided a beautiful Rolls Royce silver spirit for the day.

Arriving at the Newton Park Hotel later the rain was still coming down in sheets but by this time we were getting quite used to it. this hotel is a terrific venue for Burton on Trent wedding photography with great gardens, a beautiful staircase and very helpul staff, not to mention the high quality of their food. After a few drinks all the guests sat down for the meal and the speech ( which were amongst the funniest I’d heard this year ).

Later I was able to take Doug and Hayley away from their guests to shoot a few more shots for their Epoca album. I wish Doug and Hayley the very very best for their life together as man and wife, thankyou both for allowing me to shoot your big occasion. I hope you both enjoy looking at these few taster shots from what’s to come. x x

Doesn’t look like the rain slowed them down at all!

We provided our Rolls Royce for Hayley & Doug’s wedding at Kingstone Church. Martin from Lenzflair came across as very professional in all aspects of the wedding day and new exactly what shots he wanted to take of the bride & groom. Photographs of our car are some of the best we have seen, especially the ones taken at dusk.
Well done Martin

Nice story and photos.

East Lodge wedding photography. Claire and David’s December wedding

My first time shooting East Lodge wedding photography, and the venue has stolen my heart! I’ve looked forward to this wedding since early in 2010 when I first was invited to visit Claire and David to discuss their wedding photography.

You just know with some people that you really want to work with them and that the day will be a pleasure and that the results will be great, this was just such an occasion. East lodge is a beautiful privately run Hotel with a mass of awards to it’s credit……and now I know why. From the moment I walked through it’s doors I was made to feel extremely welcome and it felt as though I was a guest in a private home, rather than in a commercial enterprise. East Lodge wedding photography is most certainly a pleasure, the building and it’s surroundings are perfect for winter wedding photographs.

Add to all of this a very chilled and patient couple who were willing to wait whilst I set up some of my night time shots, and things start to become magical!

David and Claire also seemed to have a fabulous group of guests, and depsite it being chilly, they too were ok with walking into the fabulous grounds for a little photography after dusk. Add even more to this with the fabulous details, and the cake made by Claire herself and one of her bridesmaids, along with some of the most stunning floral displays and bouquets I’ve ever seen ( by John Preston of Ashbourne) and things were set for a terrific winter wedding.

Thank you  so much Claire and David for putting your faith in me! Thanks also to the fabulous venue and its incredible staff.

Hope you both like this little taster of what’s to come! x x

Makeney Hall wedding photography. Chrissy and Tom.

Makeney Hall wedding photography is always a pleasure, attentive staff, beautiful surroundings, and great food … add another terrific couple to the mix and it all adds up to a great day.

Chrissy and Tom were a delight to work with, Chrissy had me laughing right from the off whilst taking her preperation shots. It’s always so much easier when the couple are up for a little fun with you. Though the weather was a little duller than I would have liked, but at least the rain held of all day but for a little bit of drizzle just after my arrival.

Thank you both for booking me for your big event, I thoroughly enjoyed myself and hope that the few photographs I’m featuring here give you a little taster of what’s in store. . x

Special thanks to the staff especially Jonathon for helping the days events go so smoothly .

If you’re looking for someone to shoot your Makeney Hall wedding photography call or email me..next year is filling quickly!
