Burton on Trent Wedding & Portrait photographer, serving Staffordshire, Derbyshire and uk. bio picture
  • Welcome to my blog!

Hi I'm Martin Roe. I'm a photographer shooting Weddings, lifestyle and childrens portraiture.
I'm based in the Burton On Trent area, within easy reach of the Peak district, Leicester, Nottingham, Stoke and Stafford, though I shoot weddings all over the country when required.
I love what I do and hope that it comes across in the images that I make. For me the rapport that I build with my subjects is a huge part of my work, which I why I include an engagement or pre-wedding shoot with my top two packages. These allow us to get to know each other a little more whilst having fun along the way, you'll be more aware and a little more relaxed about what I get up to on your special day.
You'll be able to hear about my latest work and offers here on my blog, and should you wish to see my galleries, use the portfolio links provided.
My packages for 2011 begin at just £895, which includes a fabulous Epoca album made in Italy.
Any questions, use my contact page to e- mail me or to call me for a chat or become a fan on facebook to keep in touch with the latest goings on. I'm always happy to discuss my work, or your requirements.

Silicone Taxis, Maisie Gibson and Lost Cause.Burton on Trent Music Photography.

With no weddings to shoot this weekend I took a rare opportunity to take my cameras along to shoot a couple of my favourite bands.  I love photographing  live music events, and I’m lucky enough to Live in Burton on Trent now, which has a thriving music scene.

Silicone Taxis were on at the Wetmore whistle for an afternoon set so I headed there first. I always enjoy these guys, stunning musicians with years of experience between them and they cover some fabulous music from Beatles to Paloma Faith taking in Stevie Wonder and my favourite new addition to their set one day like this by Elbow. Today as usual the guys soon had the place mesmerised.

Russell then introduced a singer who was new to me, but she performed a very entertaining set, mostly self accompanied. A young lady by the name of  Maisie Gibson. Looking nervous at first she soon found her stride and played some terrific music, including covers of Jessie J, Adele, Amy Winehouse etc. Very impressive and with a real stage presence. I particularly enjoyed someone like you by Adele with Lorrienne backing her on keyboards. I’d certainly go out of my way to catch her again.

Afterwards I went along to the Roebuck for Lost Cause’s evening set. I’d never seen this band before either, but they had a packed house rocking around in no time with some fabulous Classic rock numbers, played with aplomb. The Roebuck has some great people in there on a Sunday evening and the atmosphere was terrific as you can see by some of the crowd pictures.

Since I moved into the Town a couple of months back I’ve really enjoyed the local music scene, there are some terrific local bands and venues, and stacks of talent and support for it!

Get to see any of these acts and you won’t be dissapointed. ;)

St Oswalds Church and Osmaston Park Wedding Photography, Simon and Lisa’s Fabulous day.

I had never shot  at St Oswalds Church in Ashbourne, nor had I done any Osmaston Park wedding photography before, but I love to visit new places and it always gets my cogs whirring. Added to this, Simon and Lisa were a complete blast to work with on their pre wedding shoot, so I couldn’t wait to work with them again.

I certainly wasn’t dissapointed! beautiful chuch, stunning venue and one of the most fabulous crowds that i’ve ever had the pleasure to work with…if you could call it work?  From the very off I could tell that despite the cold chill in the air and the occasional downpour, this was going to be special. I’ve always maintained that if the couple and the crowd are fun and relaxed, the photography just gets better, and people don’t get any more fun and certainly don’t get much more relaxed….in fact comas might have been induced had any body had consumed much more of the relaxing juice provided!

Osmaston park wedding photography similarly could hardly be described as a chore, I’d love to work there in good weather, but despite not being perfect that hardly held us back.

There are far more photographs of this wedding than I would usually post, but it was really difficult to narrow these down….believe me I could have put at least three times this number…easily.

Thanks you two for a perfect day! I really don’t know how you’ll whittle your gallery down to an albums worth, so many laugh out loud shots, tender moments and photographic opportunities. Have a fabulous time in Bali! x

Anyone out there thinking of booking some Osmaston park wedding photography..DO! it’s a fabulous place and I’d be very willing to help you out!

Lisa and Simon,Pre wedding shoot, Lenzflair wedding photography, Burton on Trent.

I’ve had so many terrific couples just lately with Lenzflair photography that I’m having to pinch myself, and today was no exception. Added to this Simon and Lisa asked me to meet them in the beautiful village of Somersal Herbert and then (here’s the icing on the cake ) their favourite pub, the Rose and Crown at Boylestone.

The whole ethos of Lenzflair photography was to provide something a little different that catered for individuals in a tailor made fashion. A wedding is your big day, not mine….something some photographers tend to forget occasionally. Simon and Lisa are a couple who seem enjoy that fact and have embraced my quirkiness to the full. I’d noticed a red phone box in the village and asked if Simon had a superman shirt! turns out Simon has a life long love affair with Superman comics and could have picked various items to suit. Off we went therefore disregarding a few odd looks from locals and used the phonebox to our advantage.

As for the pub…..superb! wonderful customers and a terrific landlady who seemed to enjoy the shoot as much as we did. Thanks you for making me feel so very welcome and allowing me to shoot inside.

See you two Wednesday for your rehearsal, hope you like these, can’t wait for your big day! x

The Guild of photographers Monthly awards, lenzflair photography is awarded another six!

I was delighted to recieve an email last night from Steve Thirsk, the Guild of photographers director to tell me I had been awarded another six bars in there national monthly competition.

Turns out nobody nationwide was thought worthy of a gold award in March so I was delighted to have one one silver with two more splitting the panel and coming close.  I am delighted to be an ongoing member of this guild and look forward to gaining qualifications with them this year, and getting more training from their amazing line up of tutors.

Many thanks go to all the couples featured in these images, Claire and Andy, Claire and David and Simon and Amanda. I look forward to working with more amazing couples this year and next, I’ve already had some wonderful days this year and let’s hope some more award winners!

Carol and Mick, Bolton Wedding Photography, Phantom Wedding.

I seem to have had quite a bit of success with Manchester couples in the last two years, and when Carol and Mick got in touch quite a while back now to book me for their Bolton wedding I was delighted, especially when they said it had a Phantom of the opera theme.

I travelled up to Bolton on the Friday night before the wedding  so that I could get to Carols home comfortably for an early start.

What a day it turned out to be, the  amount of attention to detail was stunning . Hundreds of red roses, masks imported from Venice, beautiful candelabras just amazing! And I don’t think that I’ve ever met so many wonderful people in one day, thanks to eveyone involved for your patience and assistance.

First time I’d shot at the Mercure too, great staff who were very helpful.

I know Carol and Mick are still honeymooning in Tenerife, but here’s a few tasters for them both.

Hope you like them you two?  Speak to you soon.

If anyone’s after some Bolton wedding photography Give me a call!
